Village Veterinary Hospital's Weight Management Program

 

OUR GOAL:

              Here at Village Veterinary Hospital we strive for excellence in every aspect of our practice. You, the client, are always our number one priority and we would like to offer you not only medical expertise and treatments, but also advice to help you maximize longevity and the well being of your companion. Our weight management program is a service provided free to you because the quality of life you and your pet share is important to us.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?:

              Did you know obesity can steal 2 YEARS of your pet's life away? Many owners are unaware of how their actions and feeding habits can directly affect their pets. Obesity in animals is becoming a very widespread problem in America. Pets will become lethargic, have trouble breathing, have trouble moving, can develop pancreatitis (very painful), and can develop diabetes (must give injections every day). In addition, being overweight can also complicate conditions such as arthritis and impedes our ability to preform surgery on some animals. There are many conditions obesity causes and complicates, which is why we have created this program.

THE PROGRAM:

              Initially, we need to first evaluate your pet's weight, BCS (Body Condition Score), medical issues, current diet and feeding method used (free feeding, feeding twice a day, etc..). After the first evaluation we will set up a personalized diet, feeding plan, exercise routine, and a schedule for coming back to have progress checked every 2-3 weeks. Did I mention the PRIZES? We are working together with THREE major pet food companies to make this program successful. Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina have all offered chances at FREE BAGS OF FOOD as well as rebates and discounts for all three brands. This includes over the counter brands as well as veterinary diets!

HOW DO I WIN FREE STUFF?:

              All you have to do is bring in your pet for your scheduled rechecks and your name will be entered into a drawing that is held at the end of every month. That's it!

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?:

              Based on each animal's individual needs and target weight, time may vary. We don't want to focus on speed here because losing weight too quickly can be very unhealthy. The program may last anywhere from 1 month to 6 months for extreme cases.
